Muscle-Shake

IMG_0164I’m guilty, I didn’t work out as much as I could have on holidays so now that I’m back I’ve slowly been getting back into exercising six days a week. Anyone whose taken a few days off, will understand how hard it is to start back. I’ve been enjoying every workout and hitting the weights again, but my muscles are suffering.

Have you ever heard of chocolate milk helping muscle soreness? It helps replenish the muscle tissue and gives you shorter recovery time. For me, being dairy intolerant I used raw cacao and almond milk rather than chocolate, but cacao has amazing health benefits and it is full of protein which contributes to muscle growth and magnesium which will help reduce soreness.

It’s so creamy and smooth, you’ll feel like your having a naughty treat, but instead you’ll just be energised for your next workout!

Ingredients

  • 2 Frozen Bananas
  • 2 tbsp of cacao powder
  • 1 tbps of cacao nibs
  • 300 ml almond milk
  • 1 tsp Maca powder

Method

1.  In a food processor, add the cacao nibs and blend until the nibs have broken down into smaller chunks.

2. Add the rest of the ingredients and blend for one to two minutes. The cacao nibs will create a texture within the milkshake, similar to chocolate chips.

3.  Drink after working out for maximum benefits.
